Privacy Policy
How pinq handles your data and protects your privacy
Our Privacy Commitment
pinq is designed with privacy in mind. We believe in transparency about how your data is handled and are committed to protecting your privacy while providing a reliable notification service.
Privacy by Design
pinq requires no personal information like email addresses, names, or accounts to start using the service. Simply download the app and begin receiving notifications.
Data Collection and Usage
Data Retention
The following data is stored to provide the service functionality:
- Topics: Stored indefinitely to maintain your notification subscriptions
External Services
Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM)
The only external service pinq uses is Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM), operated by Google. FCM is required to provide instant push notifications to your Android and iOS devices.
When you receive notifications through pinq, your device token and message content are transmitted through FCM's infrastructure. Google's Firebase service has its own privacy policy that governs how they handle this data:
External Privacy Policy
We recommend reviewing Google's privacy policy to understand how they handle data transmitted through their FCM service.
Data Security
We implement several security measures to protect your data:
- HTTPS encryption for all API communications
- No personal information required to use the service
- Topic-based isolation - messages are only delivered to devices subscribed to specific topics
Mobile Applications
The pinq mobile applications (iOS and Android) are designed to:
- Generate unique topic IDs locally on your device
- Store notification history locally for your convenience
- Manage your notification subscriptions without requiring personal information
The apps do not collect personal information, analytics, or usage tracking data beyond what is necessary to provide the notification service.

As pinq is an open-source project, any changes to our privacy practices will be reflected in updates to this policy. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
